Soludo’s Inclusive Approach: Osun and Abia Natives Appointed as Permanent Secretaries in Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed 18 new permanent secretaries across various ministries. Among the appointees are Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State and Joachin Achor from Abia State, signaling a departure from the traditional practice of exclusively appointing indigenes.

The governor’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, revealed in a press statement that the appointments were meticulously conducted through a transparent process. This included a computer-based exam, thorough background checks, and one-on-one interactions with the governor to evaluate the candidates’ aspirations and alignment with the government’s objectives.

“This move by Soludo highlights his commitment to breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity in Anambra State. The appointments of non-indigenes demonstrate a willingness to tap into talent from all corners of the country,” the statement read.

Notably, the appointment of Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State challenges the conventional practice of reserving top civil service positions for indigenes, sending a clear message that Anambra is open to talent regardless of the state of origin. The remaining 16 appointees are natives of Anambra State.

This deliberate shift towards a transparent selection process reflects Soludo’s dedication to fairness, equal opportunity, and identifying the most qualified candidates, including younger and highly productive civil servants. The move symbolizes a new era of governance in Anambra, focused on meritocracy and diversity.
