Soldier Allegedly Kills Teenager After He Challenged Him Over Sexual Advances Toward His 15-Year-Old Sister
The Nigerian Army has confirmed it is investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy, Timothy Daniel, who was allegedly shot by a soldier in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of January 1, at about 12:05 a.m. Residents said Timothy and his 15-year-old sister, Miracle Daniel, were returning home from church when they encountered a soldier attached to a petrochemical company operating in the area.
According to eyewitness accounts, the soldier allegedly made sexual advances toward the teenage girl and touched her inappropriately. Timothy was said to have confronted the soldier over the alleged conduct. The situation escalated into a heated exchange, during which the soldier reportedly cocked his rifle and shot the boy in the head.
Timothy was said to have died instantly, collapsing in a pool of blood as residents raised alarm.
The incident has sparked anger and tension within the community, with residents calling for accountability and justice for the deceased.
Confirming the report, the Army Public Relations Officer for the 2 Brigade in Mbiokporo stated that the matter is under investigation. “The incident is being handled by the military police and is already under investigation,” he said.
