The Senator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District in the Senate, Ibrahim Gobir, has said residents of Sokoto state rely on help from Nigerien soldiers to save them from bandit attacks.
Gobir, who lamented the deterioration of security in some parts of the state while contributing to the motion by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC,Niger North), on the need for more military onslaught against bandits on Tuesday, called on the federal government to take drastic actions against the bandits.
“The situation is so bad that we only get help from Niger Republic,” Gobir lamented.
Nigeria he said, “can’t be big for nothing and watch Nigerien Army to assist us”.
The Senate called on the federal government to increase military formations and surveillance in the affected states.
