Shock, Tragedy Follow Appeal Court Ruling: Four Lives Lost, Says Ousted Plateau Rep

Four individuals from the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency have lost their lives following the Appeal Court’s ruling, which led to the sacking of Dachung Musa Bagos, the former Member representing the constituency. Bagos revealed this disturbing news during an interview on Channels TV’s “Politics Today.”

The Appeal Court, located in Abuja, delivered a verdict that sent shockwaves through Plateau State, as it resulted in the removal of three House of Representatives members, including Bagos. During the interview, Bagos expressed his concerns about the impact of the ruling on the community, likening the situation to a military coup.

He stated, “I was court-martialed yesterday (Wednesday). What happened was just like a military coup. From the reaction you are just seeing from the street after sacking seven National Assembly members through the court and all of them are from the PDP, you will know that all of us won our elections with different margins. Mine was sixty something thousand.”

Bagos, who had been a representative of the people, acknowledged the inevitable public outrage and grief resulting from the perceived injustice. He continued, “As a representative of the people, you will definitely get such a reaction because there is an act of injustice. Two senators and five House of Representatives members were sacked.”

The impact of this ruling was tragically exemplified by the loss of four lives in Bagos’ constituency. Bagos disclosed, “This is shocking. Four people died because of the shock. A woman was holding a baby when she heard the news. She slumped and was rushed to a hospital and she died. She had high BP. There was a shock on our side.”

The devastating consequences of this Appeal Court ruling on the lives of ordinary citizens and the broader political landscape are a stark reminder of the profound impact such decisions can have in the community.
