Shock as Katsina Governor Splashes N1.1 Billion as Gift on Pilgrims
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has earmarked a staggering N1.1 billion for 4,000 pilgrims embarking on this year’s Hajj journey. Each pilgrim is set to receive 720 Saudi riyals, equivalent to approximately N273,547.39, totaling 2,880,000 Saudi riyals for the group.
Governor Radda expressed that the generous allocation aims to facilitate a comfortable and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience for the beneficiaries. According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda pledged a hadiya package of 720 Saudi riyals for each intending pilgrim, in addition to the customary Sallah gift provided by the state.
During the inauguration of an 11-member state delegation for the Hajj, chaired by former Deputy Governor Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, Governor Radda emphasized the importance of ensuring that no deductions are made from the pilgrims’ travel allowances. Despite the challenges posed by increased Hajj fares, Governor Radda commended the pilgrims for meeting the full payment requirement.
Governor Radda underscored his commitment to overseeing the entire Hajj operation, aiming to address any issues and improve future exercises. The delegation, led by Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state pilgrims and vowed to collaborate closely with the Pilgrims’ Welfare Board to ensure a seamless and rewarding experience for all participants.
