Governor Radda Relocates to Abuja for Medical Observation After Convoy Accident
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has relocated to Abuja for further observation and rest following a road accident involving his convoy on Saturday evening along the Daura-Katsina Highway.
Although the Governor emerged unscathed from the incident, sources within the Government House confirmed that the move to Abuja was a precautionary measure to allow him time for recuperation while continuing to discharge his duties remotely.
In the meantime, Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe has assumed responsibility for state functions in Katsina, ensuring that governance continues uninterrupted during the Governor’s brief absence.
The accident, which occurred near the School of Health Technology in Daura, involved a collision between a private Volkswagen Golf and one of the vehicles in the Governor’s convoy. Nine occupants of the private car sustained injuries, including two with simple fractures and seven with minor injuries and bruises. All victims are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Daura.
The Katsina State Government has pledged to cover all medical expenses for the injured. A government delegation led by Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, visited the victims on Monday to convey Governor Radda’s concern and reassurances.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the victims are responding well to treatment. The government is fully committed to ensuring their complete recovery by covering all medical bills,” Dr. Zango said during the hospital visit.
The gesture has been warmly received by the victims and their families, who expressed deep gratitude for the government’s swift response and support.
Meanwhile, Governor Radda has resumed official duties from Abuja. He recently received Governors Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, who were in Katsina to offer condolences over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The visiting governors also expressed relief over Governor Radda’s safety following the crash.
State officials continue to assure the public that Governor Radda remains in stable condition and is actively engaged in state affairs, even as he takes time to rest and recover.
