“She’s the Reason I Don’t Have a Grammy” – Portable Blames Ex, Queen Dami
Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has attributed his inability to win a Grammy award to his tumultuous relationship with Queen Dami, a former wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi.
In a recent Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Portable discussed the impact of his past relationship with Dami, suggesting it derailed both his personal and professional progress. According to the singer, her actions contributed to his lack of global recognition despite his efforts in the music industry.
“She is one of the reasons I don’t have a Grammy award, considering how much effort I put into my music,” he stated. Portable accused Dami of infidelity during their relationship, claiming her disloyalty brought him setbacks. “If I date a woman who is faithful to me, I will cash out, but if she frolics or has sexual relationships with other men, I will retrogress. I would have won a Grammy by now if she hadn’t been in my life.”
The singer also extended an apology to the late Alaafin and the royal palace, asking for forgiveness if any of his past comments had been disrespectful. “Everybody should forgive me, including the Alaafin of Oyo. Please forgive me if I have said anything bad about the palace or the late Alaafin,” he said.
Rumors about Portable’s relationship with Dami surfaced in August 2023, but the pair recently split after the singer accused her of engaging in “polygamy and prostitution.”
Portable first rose to fame in December 2021 with his hit single Zazoo Zeh, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. Since then, he has remained a consistent figure in the public eye, often for controversial reasons.
