“She Procured an Illegal Abortion for Regina and Administered Illegal Substances on Her” — Ned Nwoko Explains Arrest of Ann Izugbe
Nigerian lawmaker Ned Nwoko has explained the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Izugbe Ann, a close friend of his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels.
Ann was arrested by police operatives in Abuja about two weeks ago and remains in custody. Following the arrest, Regina Daniels publicly accused Nwoko of orchestrating her friend’s detention.
In a statement shared on his social media platform on Tuesday, Nwoko said the arrest followed multiple allegations he made against Ann. The senator representing Delta North Senatorial District accused her of defamation, alleging that she falsely claimed online that he physically assaulted his fifth wife, Laila, during pregnancy, leading to a miscarriage. Nwoko denied the allegation, stating that no such incident ever occurred.
He further alleged that Ann procured an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels while she was still married to him. According to Nwoko, Ann sourced and administered illegal substances to Regina, which he said resulted in the termination of his unborn child.
The lawmaker also accused Ann of repeatedly sourcing, handling, and administering illicit drugs to Regina during their marriage.
As of the time of filing this report, the police have not released an official statement on the specific charges against Ann or the status of the investigation. Regina Daniels has also not responded to Nwoko’s latest claims.
