Severe Attacks Anticipated in 2024, Warns Mbaka

Outspoken Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, has once again raised alarm over alleged plans by “evil people” to launch attacks against him in the coming year. The cleric made the revelation during his New Year’s Eve message at the Adoration Ground in Enugu.

Despite not disclosing the identities of the supposed adversaries, Mr. Mbaka urged his followers to support him with prayers, emphasizing the gravity of the anticipated attacks. He conveyed a message from God, asserting that the threats against him in 2024 would be severe.

“The Lord demands that all of you should back Father Mbaka with prayers because of the level of attack that is coming to me in 2024. I need your prayer back-up,” he implored in a mix of Igbo and English languages.

Mbaka expressed surprise at the revelation, admitting that he had hoped to escape any attacks this year. However, according to him, God revealed that some malevolent individuals were plotting against him.

In his plea, Mbaka stated, “So please, I am the Mbaka. Pray for me. I do not know the evil people that the Holy Spirit was telling me about, but God knows them. He (Holy Spirit) told me that the evil people are harbouring grievances against me. He said the evil people had vowed not to rest until they deal with me.”

This isn’t the first time the Catholic priest has raised such concerns. In his New Year’s message in 2022, Mbaka alleged a plot to kill him, following his disagreement with the Catholic Diocese of Enugu in May 2021. The conflict arose when Mbaka, previously a strong supporter of then-Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, criticized the president, demanding his resignation due to perceived “bad governance.”

The subsequent exchange with the presidency led to accusations that Mbaka was upset because his request for government contracts was declined. The clash resulted in the shutdown of the Adoration Ministry for a month, with Mbaka eventually apologizing to the bishop and the faithful.

Known for his outspoken criticism of government officials and politicians, Mbaka had prophesied in June 2022 that Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, would not win the 2023 election, citing him as a “stingy man.” This prediction faced criticism from various quarters.

In response to his scathing remark, the leadership of the diocese directed Mbaka to step down as the spiritual director of his Adoration Ministry and go to a monastery in Los Angeles. He later apologized to the LP candidate and his supporters, clarifying his intent. Despite subsequent controversies and bans, Mbaka returned to Nigeria in January 2023, resuming activities at the ministry.
