Fuel Price Hike: “We Need More Prayers to Avert Famine” – Rev. Mbaka Warns

In a cautionary address to Nigerians, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry in Enugu, has expressed deep concerns over Nigeria’s escalating fuel prices, urging citizens to turn to prayer and prudent financial planning as safeguards against potential famine.

At the recent inauguration of Blessed Omemma Oil and Gas Limited in Abakpa, Enugu East Local Government Area, Fr. Mbaka warned that the nation is already grappling with severe hunger, which could worsen into a famine crisis if unmitigated. Speaking to attendees, he encouraged Nigerians to seek divine intervention and to consider more strategic investments, as traditional savings in banks may lose value amidst the country’s economic downturn.

“We need more prayers for Nigeria to be well,” Fr. Mbaka said. “What we are facing now is hunger, but if we’re not careful, we could face famine. I encourage people to invest their money wisely; don’t leave it in the bank where it will keep devaluing.”

The cleric also called on government authorities to take swift, impactful measures to stabilize fuel prices, highlighting that even a single effective policy could greatly ease the nation’s economic strain. “The government knows what they need to do about the fuel hike,” he noted. “One solution from them can overcome these toxic situations, and that’s why I emphasize the power of prayer.”

The new Blessed Omemma Oil and Gas Ultra-Modern Station, launched by Chief Mathias Ukaigwe, will provide essential petroleum products such as Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and Dual-Purpose Kerosene (DPK) at competitive rates. The facility is expected to improve access to fuel in Enugu East and create local jobs, alleviating some of the economic challenges faced by residents.

Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Enugu Unit Depot, praised Chief Ukaigwe’s efforts, stating that the filling station not only strengthens the local economy but also helps meet the fuel needs of communities across Enugu.
