‘Serial Purveyor of Political Gossip’: Atiku’s Camp Dismisses Fayose’s ‘Fairytale’ on Minna Visit
The media office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed a publication attributed to former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, describing it as false and misleading.
The article, titled “Between Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,” alleged that political negotiations took place during a recent visit to Minna involving Atiku and Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued by Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the claims were rejected in their entirety. Shaibu described the publication as “a shameless concoction of a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip.”
According to the statement, there were no discussions about a vice-presidential ticket, no agreement involving N10 billion contributions, no zoning arrangements, and no meeting in Dubai as alleged in the article.
Shaibu said Atiku’s political engagements are national in scope and not based on the type of private negotiations portrayed in the publication. He urged members of the public to disregard the claims, stating that the report was designed to mislead and distract.
The statement added that Atiku remains focused on broader political engagement and national issues rather than what it described as speculative narratives circulating online.
