Senior Police Officer, Wife Hack Each Other to Death in Violent Altercation
A senior police officer and his wife lost their lives in a violent domestic altercation in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, February 18, 2024, in the Ita-Eku area along Igirigiri Road.
Reports indicate that Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Leramo Caleb and his wife, Tate, became embroiled in a heated argument over accusations of infidelity. The dispute quickly escalated into a brutal confrontation.
Sources claim that during the altercation, Tate allegedly attacked her husband and inflicted severe injuries on him. In retaliation, ASP Caleb reportedly grabbed a machete and fatally struck his wife, inflicting gruesome injuries to her head and face.
The spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating that officers responded to a report about the couple’s deaths and transported them to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead. A knife was recovered at the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
Further reports reveal that ASP Caleb was in his second marriage, which has now ended in tragedy. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue at an undisclosed hospital as authorities continue their investigation.
