Senior Aide to Yobe Governor Resigns from APC, Joins ADC
Babagana Yakubu Mohammed, a Senior Special Assistant to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, has resigned from his position and dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a resignation letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, Babagana cited frustrations over what he described as the marginalisation of committed party loyalists, particularly those who worked at the grassroots to ensure the APC’s electoral success.
“Accept this as my formal resignation as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Buni, effective immediately,” the letter reads in part. “I have come to realise that my efforts and contributions to the party at the grassroots level have been grossly overlooked. Despite my unwavering loyalty and dedication, I have been deliberately sidelined by the party leadership at both the local government and state levels.”
His defection to the ADC comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several opposition leaders reportedly rallying around the party as a new platform for their ambitions.
