“Democracy Will Not Die on Our Watch” — David Mark Slams All Progressives Congress at ADC Convention
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, David Mark, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of political intimidation, warning that opposition parties will resist any threat to democratic governance.
Speaking on Tuesday at the party’s 8th National Convention in Abuja, Mark said the ADC would not yield to what he described as pressure and interference from the governing party.
He stated that the party would stand firm against alleged attempts to weaken democratic institutions.
The convention brought together several prominent political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, John Oyegun, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Mark alleged that the ADC faced obstacles ahead of the event, including the initial denial of the National Stadium as a venue and attempts to disrupt proceedings at an alternative location. He commended party members for remaining committed despite these challenges.
He also urged supporters to remain focused on broader political reforms, calling for sustained efforts to strengthen democratic processes in the country.
The ADC convention comes amid heightened political activity and increasing tension between opposition groups and the ruling party ahead of future elections.
