Senator Uche Ekwunife Receives Prestigious Award at MAN’s 35th AGM

In a momentous celebration at the Nike Lake Resorts in Enugu State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Director General of the South East Governors Forum, was honored with the Distinguished Icon of Public Service and Rural Development Award. The award was bestowed upon her by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi chapter, led by Lady Ada Chukwudozie, during their 35th Annual General Meeting, Awards, and Gala Night held on December 8th, 2023.

Expressing her gratitude, Senator Uche Ekwunife highlighted the significance of the award, acknowledging the recognition of her contributions to public service and rural development even after leaving office. She emphasized the importance of tangible achievements and a sustainable framework for leadership beyond political rhetoric.

“This award is very dear to me, capturing two sectors where I have concentrated since my political journey began. I am encouraged by this special honor and remain determined to initiate ideas that enhance the livelihoods of Nigerians,” Senator Ekwunife affirmed.

The event’s host and Chairman of MAN Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi Chapter, Mrs. Ada Chukwudozie, commended Senator Ekwunife as an outstanding leader, expressing gratitude for her support to manufacturers and the community. Mrs. Chukwudozie also unveiled plans to address challenges faced by manufacturers in the region, urging the support of Governors in creating an enabling environment for businesses.

The Chairman of the MAN members group highlighted Senator Ekwunife’s positive impact on the South East and Ndi Igbo, leading to the unanimous decision to recognize her exemplary service.

Notable personalities present at the AGM included Deputy Governor of Enugu State Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, CEO of United Nigeria Airlines Chief Obiora Okonkwo, former PDP National Publicity Secretary Chief Olisa Metuh, Prof Rose Nwankwo, CEO of CUBANA group, Chief Obi Cubana, and former chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief John Nnia Nwodo, among others. The gathering celebrated not only Senator Ekwunife’s achievements but also the collective commitment to fostering growth and development in the region.
