“You Can’t Fight a Record Like Hers with Gutter Talk,” Ekwunife Aide Replies Certificate Smear
A media aide to Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming November election in Anambra State, has fired back at allegations questioning her academic credentials, describing the attacks as “gutter talk driven by fear and intellectual laziness.”
In a statement signed by Hon. Tony Ezike, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Senator Ekwunife, the smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by media aides to Governor Chukwuma Soludo was dismissed as a desperate and poorly disguised attempt to distract from the failures of the current administration.
“You can’t fight a record like hers with gutter talk,” Ezike said. “Senator Ekwunife’s credentials are solid, her record is public, and her service is unmatched. What Soludo’s media team is doing is not politics—it’s panic.”
The statement went on to provide verifiable details of Senator Ekwunife’s academic journey. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Calabar and fulfilled her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) obligations between May 3, 1993, and May 2, 1994.
She later obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, during the 2002/2003 academic year, followed by a Doctorate in Public Administration from Atlantic International University (AIU). The AIU program, according to Ezike, was accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities (ASIC) as a Premier Institution between December 29, 2019, and December 28, 2023 (Accreditation No: AS72719/0915).
“These are facts, backed by documentation—not propaganda or beer-parlour chatter,” Ezike stated. “Anyone genuinely concerned about integrity should be talking about the state of Anambra under Soludo, not inventing lies about a woman who has served with distinction.”
He questioned why Senator Ekwunife was being singled out for such attacks, while other candidates remain untouched. “They’re not attacking her because she has no record—they’re attacking her because her record threatens their hold on power,” Ezike said. “This obsession with Ekwunife is proof that they’ve already lost the argument.”
Referencing recent developments in Nri Kingdom, Ezike alleged that residents rejected offers of money, road projects, and streetlights from government emissaries and instead rallied behind Ekwunife, resisting attempts by thugs to deface APC campaign materials.
“The grassroots are with her. The people see through the noise. And when the streets choose a leader, no amount of smear tactics can change that,” he said.
The statement concluded with a pointed message to the Soludo administration: “Instead of funding propaganda, the governor should channel his energy into solving the real issues confronting Anambra—rising insecurity, infrastructural rot, and failed promises.”
Official documents confirming Senator Ekwunife’s academic credentials were attached to the statement.
