Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Faces Senate Disciplinary Panel Over Seat Reallocation Dispute
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan will face the Senate’s disciplinary panel following her protest over the reassignment of her seat in the chamber. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the decision on Tuesday, referring the matter to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.
The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was moved from her original seat in the minority section to the last row without prior notice. She resisted the change, which was seen as a violation of Senate rules.
Akpabio noted that the senator’s actions disrupted proceedings, adding that even during an earlier discussion of the issue, she was not speaking from her assigned seat. The disciplinary panel will investigate the matter and report back to the Senate.
