Self-acclaimed Osun PDP Thug Thanks Police for Arresting Him
Owoeye Olabode, a self-identified thug of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, expressed his gratitude to the state police command for his arrest after being on the run for two years. Speaking during a police parade in Osogbo on Friday, Olabode disclosed that he had never committed murder but admitted to driving the killer of one Segun to the crime scene, which led to his being declared wanted.
Olabode also confessed to his involvement in the inter-cult killings in Ilesa between the ‘Eiye’ and ‘Ave’ factions, during which several individuals lost their lives.
While addressing journalists, Olabode thanked the police for their diligent work, acknowledging that his arrest served as a stark reminder that the law ultimately prevails. “I want to appreciate the Osun State Police Command, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for their efficient work in arresting me. My arrest will teach my counterparts that the government can apprehend anyone,” he said.
He also commended the efforts of Commander Moses and Investigating Police Officer Mr. Ipoola, expressing regret for his actions. Olabode admitted to owning an illegal pump-action gun, which he used to guard miners before entering politics under the mentorship of Solomon, known as ‘Solo Iwara’.
Reflecting on his situation, Olabode remarked, “This is a great lesson for others. If I were the son of some PDP bigwigs that we worked for, they would have secured my release from the police.”
Police spokesperson SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed that other suspects were arrested along with Olabode and a pump-action gun, as well as other charms, were recovered from him.
