Security Forces Kill Scores of Bandits in Kogi — Police
Nigerian security forces have killed scores of bandits during a joint operation in Kogi State, the police have confirmed.
The operation, which took place over the weekend, involved personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and the police air wing. According to the Kogi State Police Command, the exercise was aimed at dismantling criminal networks threatening public safety in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the police spokesperson, William Ovye-Aya, said the coordinated operation led to the dislodgement of bandit camps and the destruction of their operational structures.
He stated that the intervention, supported by precision air strikes from the Nigeria Police Force air wing, resulted in the neutralisation of several bandits during sustained engagements.
Ovye-Aya noted that the security forces conducted the operation with a high level of coordination and professionalism, adding that the offensive against criminal groups in the state is ongoing.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report individuals with gunshot wounds, unexplained injuries, or suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.
He also called on the public to support security agencies by providing reliable information on criminal activities in their communities, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to maintaining peace and security in the state.
