Robbers Target Ogun Varsity Hostel, Assault, Rape Students

In a harrowing incident, four students of Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, were allegedly sexually assaulted by suspected burglars who raided a hostel in the Abapawa area of the town.

According to sources close to the matter, the assailants forcibly entered the hostel on a fateful Tuesday, during which they not only stole valuable possessions but also subjected four students to a horrifying ordeal of sexual violence.

The news of this heinous crime quickly ignited an uproar among the student body, prompting the attention of the state government. State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, upon learning of the incident, visited the victims at a local state hospital where they are currently receiving medical care.

In response to this appalling situation, the school’s Registrar, Dapo Oke, announced the immediate suspension of the ongoing second-semester examinations. He advised all members of the university community to remain vigilant and report any security concerns to the appropriate authorities.

To address the concerns of the affected students and to ensure the safety of the academic community, the Ogun State government dispatched a delegation led by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele. She assured the students of enhanced security measures and emphasized that the Commissioner of Police and other stakeholders were actively addressing the situation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Despite the gravity of the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that she was not yet aware of the details and declined to comment further until she had a more comprehensive understanding of the situation.

This shocking and distressing incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of students on the campus of Tai Solarin University of Education. The government, along with the academic community and law enforcement, is working diligently to ensure justice is served and that such a tragedy does not recur in the future.
