In a candid revelation on the Teju Babyface Deep Dive Podcast, renowned Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, famously known as RMD, delved into the intricate topic of fidelity in celebrity marriages. The 62-year-old icon did not mince words as he shared why male entertainers find it exceedingly challenging to remain faithful in matrimony.
RMD, an emblematic figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, attributed this struggle to the unique dynamics of their profession. He opined, “It’s very hard for entertainers to be faithful in marriage because of the line of work that we are in.” According to him, male entertainers often become prime targets for female attention due to their fame and popularity.
Comparing women’s allure to historical biblical figures, RMD stated, “Women are like Delilah; they are like Jezebel; they prepare.” He went on to emphasize the role of these temptations in destabilizing relationships, drawing a parallel to warfare tactics. “The only way the enemy can perpetrate their real intention is to constantly aim at the image of God or the symbol of authority in any home. Then shut it down. It’s like shooting a general on the battlefield. You drop him, and then the battalion scatters. Their mission is to take down the head of the family.”
However, RMD didn’t solely place the responsibility on external factors. He stressed the importance of mutual understanding between spouses. “So, it’s very difficult [to be faithful]. You have to get to the point where your wife understands what she is up against as well. Because if your wife is not up to speed on what she is up against, then you would be left open.”
In the pursuit of harmony, RMD highlighted the necessity for both partners to be vigilant against potential intruders in their relationship. His revelations provide a unique insight into the challenges faced by male celebrities in maintaining fidelity in their marriages.
