Rivers Policemen in Custody for Stealing 3000 USDT During Kidnapping

Officers from the Rivers State Police Command have been apprehended for their involvement in the kidnapping of a man in Aba, Abia State. The victim was forcibly taken to Delta State, where the rogue officers coerced him into transferring 3000 USDT, a cryptocurrency stablecoin, to their wallet.

The incident came to light when Harrison Gwamnishu disclosed the details on social media, prompting swift action from the Rivers Police Command. The spokesperson for the command confirmed the incident, revealing that the victim was abducted in Aba, transported through Bayelsa State, and ultimately to Ughelli in Delta State, where the cryptocurrency was extorted from him.

The Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, Olatunji Disu, expressed his awareness of the incident and assured the public that appropriate measures would be taken. SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, issued a press statement acknowledging the arrest of the implicated officers and stated, “The Police personnel have been identified and arrested while the investigation is in progress. The outcome will be made public as soon as it is concluded.”

This incident bears similarities to a past occurrence where police personnel from Bayelsa State intercepted individuals, extorted money through a Point of Sale (POS) operator, and faced disciplinary actions. It highlights the importance of addressing such misconduct within law enforcement agencies to maintain public trust and accountability.
