Rivers Commissioner Urges Political ‘Godfathers’ to Copy Tinubu’s Leadership Approach

In a recent address at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the 2023 annual Week of Rivers NUJ, Joseph Johnson, the Rivers Commissioner for Information and Communications, encouraged political ‘godfathers’ in the state to adopt the positive political principles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Johnson emphasized the importance of allowing loyalists in elected positions to lead without hindrance, citing Tinubu’s approach with former Governor Ambode in Lagos as an example.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a Dinner Night event, Commissioner Johnson commended journalists for their impartial reporting on the current political saga in Rivers state. Reflecting on the ongoing crisis, he acknowledged the challenges faced by Fubara, asserting that these hurdles are inherent in leadership.

Despite the political challenges, Johnson highlighted the significant support demonstrated by the people of Rivers state during the recent flag-off of 20,000 housing units at Mbodo, Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area. He underscored the Governor’s commitment to “Talk and do” and described Fubara as a strong-willed leader focused on delivering his mandate to the people.

The event also featured Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, Head of Corporate Communication at Indorama Petrochemical & Fertilizer Group, who commended the Correspondents’ Chapel for their neutrality in the current political power tussle. Nkwocha applauded the chapel’s choice of theme, centered on Entrepreneurs and investment in Rivers state.
