The Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

The decision was announced during plenary on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

Lawmakers aligned with Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had initiated the impeachment process in January. Speaking to journalists the following day, Wike expressed confidence that the president’s intervention would bring a lasting resolution to the standoff.
