Residents Loot Food Truck Following Warehouse Raid in Abuja’s Dei-Dei

Residents of Dei-Dei in the Bwari Local Area of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory targeted a truck transporting food items on Monday. This incident occurred just a day after a group of residents raided and pillaged a warehouse owned by the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture.

The warehouse, situated in Karimo – Gwa Gwa, Phase 3 Region of the FCT, Abuja, fell victim to looting on Sunday morning, with residents making off with essential foodstuffs and other items. The attack on the truck took place at the Dei-Dei junction, as it was en route from Zuba via Madalla Road.

Sources in the area disclosed that the truck, which was scheduled to deliver goods to the previously raided warehouse, fell prey to the attackers between 7 am and 10 am on Monday. According to a witness, many of the culprits were artisans accustomed to unloading goods from such trucks.

“The truck was coming from Zuba – Madalla Road but was attacked at the front of NNPC filling station in Dei-Dei. The goods inside were meant for the warehouse that was assaulted on Sunday,” said the source. “The truck was parked along Madalla Road until Monday morning when the driver received confirmation that everything was under control. However, it was attacked before reaching the warehouse.”

In response to the unfolding events, the spokesperson of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, expressed the command’s unawareness of the food truck looting. She stated, “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any looting of a food truck in Dei-Dei Abuja this morning, but if you have any information, please come to us with details, please.”
