“Reject Calls for Anti-Tinubu Protests” – Deputy Speaker Kalu Urges Ndi Igbo
In a continuous push for peace in the southeast, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has urged the Igbo community to “reject calls for anti-government protests.” Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South East Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Kalu emphasized that supporting the government is in the best interest of the southeastern region.
Kalu praised the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting its efforts to benefit the Igbo community through significant appointments and initiatives. He noted that the APC-led government has achieved more for Ndi Igbo than previous administrations, including ongoing efforts to create an additional state in the southeast.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu mentioned that the call for the release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kalu, is gaining attention. He urged the Igbo community to avoid participating in anti-government activities to protect the progress made so far.
Kalu stated, “Aside from our supportive legislative activities, President Tinubu has implemented bold reforms to stabilize the economy. The unification of the FOREX market and redirecting funds to critical sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure have boosted investor confidence, making the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the NGX, one of the top-performing stock exchanges globally.”
He added that significant investments have modernized security forces, leading to the liberation of over 4,600 hostages, the neutralization of more than 9,300 hostiles, and the arrest of over 7,000 terrorists and bandits.
Kalu reiterated that the National Assembly, under APC leadership, will continue leveraging legislative interventions to reposition the southeast and the nation. He acknowledged the recent appointments of several prominent individuals from the region as evidence of the party’s commitment to inclusivity.
“Given all the remarkable achievements of the president and our great party in the last year, I urge the southeast region to remain steadfast and not join any calls to revolt against a president who has done so much for our country. We must stand united in support of his visionary leadership,” Kalu concluded.
