PSC Appoints Moshood Jimoh as New Lagos Police Commissioner
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Moshood Jimoh as the new commissioner of police for Lagos State. The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC spokesperson, who highlighted Jimoh’s extensive experience and training.
According to the statement, Jimoh has undergone numerous professional trainings, including a Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri and participation in the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan. He also received training on countering weapons of mass destruction at the First Responder Training Institute in the United States, as well as on social construction and management reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy in Pudong, China. Additionally, he trained in maritime rescue and salvage at the China Maritime Academy in Ningbo, China, and specialized in anti-hijacking techniques at Yunnan Police College in Kunming, China. Jimoh also attended the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
Prior to his appointment, Jimoh served as the commissioner of police for the ports authority in the eastern ports. A former force public relations officer, he hails from Kwara State and has held several key positions within the police force. These include deputy commissioner for airport police, deputy commissioner for finance and administration, and deputy commissioner for general investigation.
Jimoh is also a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality, an honor bestowed by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and use of public relations in Nigeria.
