“Protest Will Not Solve Our Problems,” Wike Urges Nigerians Amid Economic Hardship

In the face of mounting economic challenges across Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has called upon residents to refrain from participating in the upcoming nationwide protests scheduled from August 1 to August 10, 2024. Wike’s plea comes amidst growing discontent over prevailing economic hardships in the country.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing construction of a 5-kilometre access road in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Minister Wike acknowledged the widespread suffering but assured citizens that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is diligently working to address the issues at hand.

“This period of hunger and suffering is temporary,” Wike assured during his interaction with Abuja residents. “The government is implementing reforms and policies that will soon yield positive results.”

Expressing concern that the planned protests could be politically motivated to destabilize the current administration, Wike urged Nigerians to exercise patience and avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation. He emphasized, “Protests will not solve our problems. We must trust in the ongoing efforts to alleviate hunger and improve the overall welfare of our people.”

In his concluding remarks, Minister Wike reassured the public, “I understand the frustration caused by hunger, but I urge you to remain patient. These challenges will be overcome soon. Those encouraging you to protest are not acting in the best interest of Nigeria.”
