Private Jet Carrying Minister of Power Crash-Lands in Oyo State
A private jet with the registration number 5N-AMM crash-landed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Friday evening. The aircraft was carrying the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage, according to exclusive reports from SaharaReporters.
The incident unfolded at approximately 08:25 hrs on November 3, 2023, when the aircraft skid off the runway 22 during landing. The control tower lost communication with the aircraft immediately after landing, prompting an urgent response from the airport’s ARFFS (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Services), AVSEC (Aviation Security), and other relevant airport officials.
Fortunately, all three cabin crew members and the seven passengers on board were successfully rescued from the damaged aircraft. The aircraft itself came to rest in a nearby bush along runway 22.
Despite these dramatic events, there were no casualties reported, and no lives were lost. The preliminary findings of an emergency meeting held with the heads of departments on the ground indicated that the runway lighting system was operational at the time of the aircraft’s arrival. However, the exact cause of the incident remains uncertain, and further investigations are pending.
The aircraft, which played a crucial role in the transportation of the Minister of Power, remains stranded in the bush adjacent to runway 22 as security personnel from AVSEC, ARFFS, Airport Safety teams, and the NAF (Nigerian Air Force) maintain a vigilant presence at the site.
