President Tinubu Leaves for Saudi Arabia on Sunday to Attend Arab-Islamic Summit
President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Nigeria on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024. The summit, organized by Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will center on Middle Eastern issues, particularly the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the President’s spokesperson, President Tinubu will use this platform to advocate for Nigeria’s stance on an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution in the region. “During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution,” said Onanuga. He added that Nigeria would urge renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as a viable path to long-term peace.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by key government officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Information and National Orientation Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
