JUST IN: Explosion Rocks Jos, Leaving Many Injured, Feared Dead
A powerful explosion has rocked Jos, the capital of Plateau State, early this morning, causing widespread panic and leaving many injured. The blast occurred near the busy Terminus market area around 10 a.m., a densely populated part of the city.
Sources from the scene confirmed that security agencies, including the police, fire department, and ambulance teams, have swiftly arrived to manage the situation and carry out rescue operations. While the full extent of the damage remains unclear, several individuals have been reported injured, and there are fears of fatalities.
“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. People were running and screaming. It was terrifying,” said Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor who witnessed the explosion.
At the moment, the police have cordoned off the area as investigators begin their work to determine the cause of the explosion. A security source at the Jos Police Command stated, “We urge calm and assure the public that we will do everything possible to ensure their safety.”
As of now, neither the Plateau State government nor the police have issued an official statement regarding the incident. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation.
