President Tinubu Approves Establishment of Federal University in Southern Kaduna
President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna, marking a significant step towards advancing education in the region. The announcement was made by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson for Vice President Kashim Shettima, during the vice president’s condolence visit to Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
The visit followed the passing of Yohanna Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. During the interaction, Shettima also revealed ongoing discussions about establishing a federal medical centre in Kafanchan.
He explained that the initiative for the university was achieved through collaboration with Senator Sunday Katung and members of the House of Representatives. “President Bola Tinubu has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna,” Shettima confirmed.
Emphasizing the president’s commitment to addressing Southern Kaduna’s developmental and security needs, Shettima pointed to the appointment of Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as a demonstration of this focus. He added, “Be rest assured that President Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart.”
Shettima also praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his inclusive governance approach and assured that the federal government would partner with the state government to ensure infrastructure development, including improvements to road networks, in Southern Kaduna.
