President Tinubu Appoints New Director-General of NCMM
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Olugbile Holloway as the Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM). The announcement was made through a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
Mr. Holloway, currently serving as the Managing Director of Evoke Communications Limited, a renowned creative brand/consultancy agency, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration, his qualifications align well with the objectives of the NCMM.
The statement issued by the President’s office emphasized Tinubu’s expectation for Holloway to inject vitality into the agency and oversee the preservation, promotion, and development of Nigeria’s diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Established in the 1940s, the National Commission for Museums and Monuments is a pivotal agency under the Federal Government of Nigeria, entrusted with safeguarding the nation’s cultural legacy. It manages a vast array of national museums and monuments, safeguarding ancient artifacts, traditional architecture, and historical sites.
Beyond preservation, the NCMM plays a proactive role in cultural education and community engagement. Through exhibitions, research initiatives, educational programs, and community outreach efforts, the commission aims to foster awareness and appreciation of Nigeria’s rich history and cultural tapestry.
Furthermore, the NCMM undertakes crucial archaeological endeavors, including excavations and surveys across the country. These initiatives not only contribute to scholarly research but also pave the way for enhanced cultural heritage management and development.
