“Political Sins Won’t Send Politicians to Hell Fire” – Oshiomhole
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has dismissed the idea that political missteps carry eternal consequences, describing such actions as inherent to the political process.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Congress in Benin City, Oshiomhole referenced past conflicts with Edo State APC Chairman Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, emphasizing that political disagreements are part of normal party dynamics. He added that while politicians may commit “political sins,” these do not determine their moral fate. Oshiomhole confirmed that he has forgiven Tenebe following their reconciliation.
The congress, held at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Hub, saw Tenebe and the 36-member state executive returned unopposed, with delegates from all 18 local government areas endorsing their continued leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Tenebe announced the executive’s formal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for second terms, citing their performance and contributions to Edo residents and Nigerians. He also disclosed Oshiomhole’s backing of a second Senate term for himself, praising the senator’s legislative work.
“This unanimous affirmation is a call to duty. We are ready to ensure the party continues to prioritize Edo people while supporting the governor’s developmental agenda,” Tenebe said.
He thanked delegates for their trust and pledged to guide the party through the next four years, aligning with Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, a blueprint for sustainable state development.
Hon. Kabiru Ajana, chairman of the National Congress Committee, confirmed that the elections for the 36 APC executive positions were conducted without contest, highlighting the party’s unity. He commended Governor Okpebholo for fostering cohesion in Edo APC and suggested other states follow the example.
