Police Uncover Kidnappers’ Hideout in Abuja, Arrest Four Suspects
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has made significant strides in combating kidnapping in Abuja, uncovering a hideout linked to a notorious gang in the Sauka area along Airport Road. Four suspects, including an ex-convict, have been arrested following the operation.
In a statement, FCT Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the arrests made on October 1. The suspects were identified as Yau Sani, alias “Baba”; Nuhu, known as “Giwa”; Kabiru Mohammed; and Yusuf Hassan. They are accused of orchestrating a series of kidnappings that have plagued the FCT and surrounding regions.
The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in multiple kidnappings and the murder of seven victims. Their criminal activities extended to various locations, including Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko Village, and several areas in Niger and Kaduna states.
Following the initial arrests, the suspects led police to another hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State. There, authorities recovered an arsenal consisting of four AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, and 162 rounds of live ammunition.
SP Adeh disclosed that the gang had plans to target government institutions and estates within the FCT, but their intentions were thwarted by the proactive measures of the police.
The FCT Police Command has reiterated its commitment to eradicating crime and urged the public to report any suspicious activities. Residents can reach the police through emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
