Police Secure Remand Order, Launch Search for Reno Omokri Over Alleged Defamation of Pastor Paul Enenche
The Nigeria Police Force has obtained a remand order from the Chief Magistrate Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, to detain social media influencer and former presidential aide Reno Omokri. The order also applies to former Dunamis Church pastor Abraham Daniel and two others—Enenche Enenche and Alexander Enenche—over alleged defamation of Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis Church.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna granted the police’s request through an ex-parte motion filed by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun on January 13, 2025. The motion, filed by police counsel Francis Gabriel, lists Omokri, Daniel, and the Enenche brothers as respondents. The court ordered their remand in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service pending investigation and possible prosecution. The next hearing is set for January 30, 2025.
The case stems from a petition to the Inspector General of Police by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Patrick O. Okolo, accusing Omokri and several online platforms—including Gistlover Blog, Aunty Adul, and Kelechi TV—of defamation. Police are now searching for Omokri to enforce the remand order.
Sources close to the case suggest that the legal action against Pastor Abraham Daniel follows his resignation from Dunamis Church after a decade of service. The situation reportedly escalated due to a personal dispute with Pastor Enenche, leading to Daniel’s divorce and subsequent alleged harassment.
According to sources, Daniel faced multiple threats after leaving the church. In one incident, he was involved in a car accident and later arrested by plainclothes officers allegedly acting on Enenche’s orders. He was taken to Karu Police Station, where he was reportedly advised to apologize to Enenche. Despite an alleged agreement to resolve the matter, tensions continued, culminating in Daniel’s recent detention.
Further allegations include police interrogating Daniel over WhatsApp messages discussing a relative’s living conditions and a tattoo on Pastor Enenche’s daughter, Deborah. He was reportedly asked to apologize and delete social media posts. After complying, he was still detained when he honored a police invitation on January 13, 2025.
