Police Seal Off ADC Meeting Venue in Cross River

Armed police officers in Calabar on Tuesday sealed off a venue scheduled for a meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), disrupting plans to inaugurate a key party committee.

The event, which was to hold at an event centre along Marian Road by 10:00 a.m. on March 10, 2026, was organised to inaugurate the party’s membership registration, mobilisation and revalidation committee ahead of its primaries.

The committee is chaired by Eko Alobo and was set up to oversee membership registration and mobilisation activities across Cross River State.

Among those who engaged with security officials were the ADC South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Usani Uguru Usani, and Bassey Eko Ewa. The leaders later met with the Cross River State Commissioner of Police in an attempt to address the development.

Following the disruption, the party moved the gathering to the residence of Usani, where supporters later assembled.
