Police Recover UEFA Trophy Stolen from Sporting Lisbon’s Stadium

Portuguese authorities have recovered the Women’s Champions League trophy following its theft from the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon, where the final between Barcelona and Arsenal is set to be played on May 24. The trophy was stolen during a league match between Sporting Lisbon and Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday but was not reported to police until the following day.

In a statement released Tuesday, police confirmed that several masked individuals broke into the stadium’s garage area by forcing open a gate. The trophy, along with other UEFA equipment, was taken during the incident. A police spokesperson later confirmed to AFP that the stolen items have been returned to UEFA.

Thirteen suspects have been identified, although police have not disclosed details of the recovery operation. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities expecting to retrieve additional items and possibly make more arrests in the coming days.
