Police Recover Bodies of Three Abduction Victims in Abia
Police operatives in Abia State have discovered the bodies of three individuals, including a police officer, following a deadly ambush in the Azumini Ndoki community, Ukwa East Local Government Area. The victims were part of a convoy attacked on March 4 while escorting businessman Obasi Lawson. Armed men in a Toyota Sienna reportedly opened fire on the convoy, killing the driver and another passenger before abducting Lawson and a police officer assigned to his security detail.
According to intelligence sources cited by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the police recovered two bodies on March 8, later identified as those of the driver and a civilian passenger. Further investigation led to the discovery of the body of Assistant Superintendent of Police Tanko Natip in a nearby bush. His remains were transferred to Okeikpe Mortuary in Ukwa West.
Lawson’s whereabouts remain unknown. Security forces, aided by tracking technology, continue the search. Authorities have since reinforced security in the area, deploying additional tactical teams to monitor the region and prevent further attacks.
