Police Kill Two IPOB/ESN Members in Enugu

Operatives of the Nigeria Police conducted a raid on the hideout of the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) in the Akwuke community of Enugu South Local Government Area. During the operation, two members of the outlawed group were killed.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Adejobi Olumuyiwa, reported that the officers faced strong resistance from the group but managed to subdue them with superior firepower.

“Two IPOB members were killed during the raid. Officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, a submachine gun, a stainless pump-action gun, 27 live rounds, 23 expended rounds of 7.62mm caliber ammunition, and five live cartridges,” Olumuyiwa stated.

The investigation revealed that the AK-47’s breech number had been removed, but the magazine bore the Nigeria Police color, suggesting the weapon may have been taken during attacks on police stations.

In a separate operation, Jigawa State Command operatives, working with local vigilantes and acting on credible intelligence, raided the Dangoli Fulani camp in Kiyawa Local Government Area. The raid led to the arrest of two suspects, Bello Usman and Musa Babangida, in connection with a case of culpable homicide and robbery.
