Police, JTF Rescue Kidnap Victim in Anambra

In a successful operation, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF), has rescued a kidnap victim from a criminal hideout in Ihiala, Anambra State.

The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the rescue in a statement released on Tuesday. According to SP Ikenga, the operation took place at a criminal den located in Umuduru, Ihiala Local Government Area, following the arrest of a key suspect a few weeks earlier. The suspect, whose identity has been withheld, reportedly confessed to being part of a notorious kidnapping gang operating in the area.

The victim, a man in his mid-30s, was safely rescued, debriefed, and has since been reunited with his family. SP Ikenga added that the ongoing operation in Ihiala involves a combined effort from the police, military personnel, and members of the Anambra Vigilance Group (AVG), with the aim of dismantling the kidnapping ring.

Authorities have assured residents of continued efforts to enhance security in the state.
