Police Investigate After 27-Year-Old Woman Dies While Eating at Boyfriend’s Home in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation following the sudden death of a 27-year-old woman, Esther Akwaji, at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
According to sources, Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had traveled to the FCT to visit family. On January 21, she left her family home, saying she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei, but did not return. Hours later, her family received a call from a man claiming to be her boyfriend, using Esther’s phone.
The man reportedly told the family that Esther had visited him and that he had prepared a meal for them. He said that during the meal, Esther suddenly began vomiting. She was taken to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors confirmed she was dead on arrival.
Authorities say the man fled the hospital shortly after Esther’s death and has since been unreachable.
SP Josephine Adeh, Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police, confirmed that the command is conducting a thorough investigation. “The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” she said.
