Police Foil Kidnapping, Rescue Family After Intense Shootout
The Edo State Police Command successfully rescued four family members abducted by gunmen following a fierce gun battle. The victims, identified as David Ayanbode (60), Elizabeth Akpoyomare (40), Excel Akpoyomare (10), and Flourish Akpoyomare (8), were kidnapped on December 15 along the Okada-Ayekun camp near Utese.
According to SP Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the command, the police launched an immediate response upon receiving the report of the abduction. They tracked the kidnappers to their hideout, where the suspects engaged officers in a gunfight. Overpowered by the police’s superior firepower, the kidnappers abandoned their victims, who were found tied up in the bush, and fled the scene.
The victims were rescued unharmed, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, SP Yamu confirmed.
