Police Discover Grave of Missing LASU Graduate, Arrest Prime Suspect
The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered the shallow grave where missing Lagos State University (LASU) graduate Adedamola Ogunbode was buried, following the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo. Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate, had been declared missing since January 16, 2025.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Ajisomo was apprehended on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos. He has since confessed to the crime and led detectives to the burial site. Hundeyin confirmed that Ajisomo had cleared the victim’s bank account using Ogunbode’s mobile phone.
Earlier, the police had arrested three other suspects in connection with the case, including Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, another church member who reportedly got N300,000. The suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was also taken into custody for allegedly aiding her children, Olaoluwa and Teniola Ajisomo, in fleeing after each allegedly received funds from the victim’s account.
Despite social media speculation, the police clarified that the grave was not located on church grounds. However, the church attended by the arrested pastor has been sealed off by law enforcement after receiving intelligence about a possible arson attack in retaliation for the killing.
The investigation, now under the State Criminal Investigation Department, was escalated after pressure from the LASU students’ union, which threatened to hold a statewide protest. Police sources revealed that detectives were on their way to exhume Ogunbode’s remains, following Ajisomo’s confession. Hundeyin confirmed the development in a brief response to inquiries, stating simply, “Confirmed.”
