Police Detain Wife, Children, Aides Over Death of Ex-Ondo SDP Candidate Akingboye
Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Bamidele Akingboye, who died under unclear circumstances on September 3, is at the center of a widening police investigation. Detectives from the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department have detained 10 suspects, including his wife, four children, and five aides.
According to a police source, the decision to hold the suspects followed progress in an investigation described as “scientific in nature.” Akingboye’s body was discovered in the backyard of his residence, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain uncertain.
Family members, speaking earlier at the crime scene, expressed faith in the police process, stating they believe investigators will pursue the case with diligence. His first son, Samuel Akingboye, has urged authorities to conduct a thorough probe to uncover the truth behind his father’s death.
