Police Arrest Twin Brothers Over Ritual Killing of Sex Worker
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Kehinde Yemitan, a suspect wanted in connection with the murder and dismemberment of a commercial sex worker, identified only as Darasimi. The arrest occurred in the Ilogbo Ota community, following a manhunt initiated after his twin brother, Taiwo Yemitan, and an accomplice, Kazeem, were detained on December 22, 2024.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Kehinde was captured on December 30, 2024, after intelligence led authorities to his hideout. The operation was conducted by a police surveillance team in collaboration with the So Safe Corps.
The crime, which took place in Abeokuta, involved the luring of the victim to the suspects’ residence, where she was killed and her body mutilated for alleged ritual purposes. Following the arrest of Taiwo and Kazeem, the police continued efforts to locate Kehinde, who was described as a key accomplice.
Odutola revealed that community members confirmed Kehinde’s involvement in criminal activities, and during questioning, he admitted to conspiring with others in the gruesome act. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
In her statement, Odutola appealed to young women to avoid risky relationships driven by financial motives, commonly referred to as “hookups,” warning of the dangers inherent in such arrangements. She also urged parents to help educate their children on the risks of engaging in vices like prostitution, which can expose individuals to grave harm.
“This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of casual relationships for pecuniary gains. Let it be a lesson for young females to prioritize their safety and make cautious decisions,” Odutola said.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety in the state.
