Police Arrest Three Car Thieves in Anambra, Recover Stolen Vehicle
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate operating in the state. The suspects, identified as Ifesinachi Okonkwo (22), Chisom Okafor (20), and Oderah Ebenezer (20), were apprehended at Kwata Junction in Awka by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, during a routine patrol.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspects were intercepted on the morning of Wednesday, January 15, while driving a black Lexus 330 SUV without a plate number. Upon interrogation, they allegedly confessed to stealing the vehicle from Isuaniocha Village in Awka North Local Government Area.
Further investigations revealed that the trio is part of a larger criminal network responsible for terrorizing residents in Awka. The police have urged anyone who may have lost a vehicle matching the description to visit the Police Public Relations Office in Awka with valid proof of ownership for verification and possible retrieval.
