Man Apologizes to Police After False Claim That Officers Stole His Manhood
A man identified as Benedict Toju has apologized to the Delta State Police after falsely claiming that officers had stolen his manhood during a stop-and-search operation in Warri. Toju, who was detained by the police, later admitted that his initial accusation was untrue.
According to a statement from the police, Toju was initially stopped by officers from Ekpan Police Station. Following a search, he returned to the officers, alleging that they had made his manhood disappear. He was brought to the station and subsequently examined by a doctor, who confirmed that his manhood was intact.
Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, shared the incident in a video on his X handle, where he clarified that such bizarre accusations were not new to the force. “We continue to hear strange stories like this, but this is the first time we’ve had someone claim their manhood disappeared,” Edafe said. He further remarked that the accused would be required to explain his claims in court, given that medical examinations had disproved his statement.
Toju, in a subsequent statement, explained that he had felt a strange sensation after being released by the police, which led to his return to the station. “When I left, I was feeling somehow, so I came back to explain how I was feeling, which was very wrong. They brought me to the station. The DPO requested a doctor’s examination, which was conducted and confirmed that my penis is intact,” he said.
Toju admitted that his panic had led him to mistakenly believe his manhood was shrinking. “I opened my trousers and checked, but I was scared because it appeared to be shrinking and very small. Later, I realized it was my panic that caused it,” he explained.
Reflecting on the incident, Toju expressed regret, saying, “I feel bad because I made a false accusation. I believe I will learn from this mistake.”
