Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Killing and Dismembering His Father in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Sowe Temidayo Igbekele, for allegedly killing and dismembering his 60-year-old father, Babatunde Sowe Kayode, at their home in the Oshodi area of Lagos. The arrest was made on Sunday, April 20, 2025, following a report filed by a female relative, Temidayo Akinola, at the Alakara Police Division.
According to police sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on April 17 at about 9:00 a.m. at the family residence. The motive for the brutal killing remains unclear.
Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they documented the crime and evacuated the dismembered remains of the deceased. The body has been deposited in a public morgue for autopsy.
After fleeing the scene, the suspect was tracked and arrested at a hideout in Oshodi on the same day the report was filed. Police say investigations are ongoing.
