Police Arrest 25-Year-Old for Allegedly Killing Sister’s Boyfriend
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Mansur Umar, for the alleged murder of his sister’s boyfriend, Sulaiman Musa, in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident took place around 9:30pm on Friday, May 9, 2025. Sulaiman Musa, also 25 and a resident of Goda Village, had reportedly visited his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her family’s home when he was attacked.
Police reports allege that during the visit, Fiddausi’s brother, Mansur Umar, struck Sulaiman on the head with a stick, causing a severe injury. The victim was first taken to Kunya Cottage Hospital before being referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, where he was pronounced dead at 12:50am on Saturday.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and the case is being investigated by the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori condemned the killing and urged the public to resolve conflicts peacefully. He also encouraged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to authorities to help maintain security across the state.
